Džeko Bags a Goal and an Assist

Edin Džeko put in probably his best performance for Manchester City since his debut yesterday, scoring his club’s 4th goal after assisting Carlos Tévez on the 3rd in the FA Cup replay against Notts County. Our forward was generally active throughout the game, creating a number of opportunities, including one bullet header that he, unfortunately, directed towards the Notts keeper. He saved his best for the second half, where, in the 84th minute, he played a fantastic pass to Tévez who then rounded the keeper. Five minutes later, in the 89th, this combination worked in reverse; after Džeko showed some good movement while participating in the build-up, Tévez found him with a simple cross that brought our man his second goal in the City shirt.
In the dying minutes of the game he could’ve netted a brace, but overanalyzing seemed to get the best of him in a one-on-one with the keeper. When you consider that he had also drawn a blatant penalty earlier that wasn’t called, it was an altogether lively and encouraging performance. Džeko’s form seems to have been on the upswing lately and the next step will be to continue it into league competition.
