Senad Lulić Strikes Again

Senad Lulić had another great game in European competition yesterday. He was one of the top players in Young Boys’ Europea League Round of 32 home tie against Zenit St. Petersburg, capping off his performance with an excellent goal in the 46th minute. With a deft touch and a final burst of speed, he swept past two Zenit defenders before ultimately lobbing the keeper:
Young Boys went on to win the game 2-1, giving themselves a fair shot at advancing into the Round of 16. Lulić himself gave the following analysis to Uefa.com:
“In the first half we made too many mistakes,” said Bosnian international Lulić. “We didn’t close them down, we didn’t tackle well enough while Zenit moved the ball around. We fell asleep for their goal and at half-time we could be glad it was only 1-0. But in the second half we made far fewer mistakes and I’m very proud of my team for turning the result into a victory.”
Considering that Lulić had previously stood out in Young Boys’ games against Tottenham and Stuttgart, I’m surprised that he still hasn’t been linked with any Bundesliga clubs. You can read my post on the first of those two games here, and see the extended highlights of the second match here. He’s young (just turned 25), fast and ambidexterous – surely those are all good selling points? In the meantime, hopefully this latest addition to his highlight reel will help convince Safet Sušić to play him further up the field, in the left or right wing where he is clearly most comfortable.
Hi Dino. I like that line-up. I would like to see Subašić get more of a chance too, but Sušić doesn’t seem to be particularly keen on younger players. Then again, he tried Bešić out against Mexico and that turned out to be a great decision. I just wish he would’ve let Subašić start that game as well, since so far we still haven’t seen him play 90 minutes as a LB for the national team.

Any suggestions of who the LB should be or who should partner Spahic?
????? Spahic ????? Mujdza
Here’s what I was thinking:
—————–Dzeko—————–
—————————————
–Salihovic—–Pjanic———-Lulic–
—————————————
————Besic—–Rahimic———-
—————————————
–Subasic—Spahic—-Vranjes–Mujdza–
—————————————
——————Hasgic—————
The obvious criticism: too many young and inexperienced players. So maybe replace
Besic for Medunjanin
Pjanic for Misimovic (although it would be best to find a place for Pjanic on the field)
Vranjes for Nadarevic or Jahic
